“Zindagi mein tumse pyar karti hoon".

Namastey mera naam Tats and I am from Mauritius. Some... no...many of you right now are asking yourselves WHERE IS MAURITIUS ? : )  It is a small island of 1.2million inhabitants in the Indian Ocean to the east of Madagascar…found it? ... Yes this small point, Its my paradise Island, and you are all invited to drop by anytime I’ll be happy to show you around  :P Oops getting off track so, these winter holidays, I decided to go  for a ET Internship in India. Going to India for me was the biggest thing I ever achieved up to now as I never went out of my little rock in the Indian Ocean :P yes finally the island girl decided to surf towards new horizons. I was so happy and excited that finally one of my dreams would come true but also much apprehension was felt as for me India represented a huge challenge as well.

My first challenge was to fly alone and I managed not to get lost in Delhi Airport (is impossible as indications are everywhere and people are always happy to help) and I am still proud of it :P

My second challenge was to share a house with 8 girls . I am used to share my room with one but 8 girls is really not the same :P . As soon as I arrived to the Intern house, I understood that it would not be a difficult task; an awesome bunch of people who; with their different cultural backgrounds, added, on a daily basis, colors and fun in my life. Each day with them was a wonderful one, and each of them had their particular
character which added more authenticity to our Intern Family.

(Special message to all of them:
My dearest Amalia (Romania), Tanya (Ukraine), Kristina, Catherine, Kelsey (Canada), Tanja (Netherlands), Shruti (Mauritius) , Agni (Poland);  I miss you all and thank you because maybe it did not cross your mind but I learned much from each one of you and you all contributed to this life changing
experience. I love you :) see you all soon in one corner of the earth. )

My third challenge is regarding my internship itself, I had to establish a French syllabus for the courses as well as define the best material to be used (books, websites, etc) . I was teaching approximately 20 students aged of 18 years old onward. Most of them wanted to learn French to be able to fulfill the criteria needed to migrate to Canada. So, my task was to teach them French and prepare them to sit for the DELF Examination given by Alliance Francaise in India which is a serious responsibility for a non professional teacher. At this point when you just arrive you ask yourself thousands of questions; will you be able to adapt? Will you meet the expectations of the company? Will you help the students to pass? ... And you have only one hope; that everything goes well. However soon I realised that I should not think this way. To resume what I felt during these 6 weeks of internship, I will simply say that Lajwanti Educational Services was not just an internship it was also my home for 6 weeks, a real family, I met really sincere people who soon became friends with whom we shared loads of good moments, I am so grateful for this opportunity I was given. The Staff as well as the Students of this institution contributed greatly to this awesome experience I had; with their help I was able to gain more confidence which was one of the reasons I decided to go for an Exchange. To conclude, it is simply impossible to forget them.

As the tourism campaign says and I totally agree with it India is INCREDIBLE. I never did travel before and my internship is the beginning of a long romance with discovering and exploring the diversity of cultures in this small world. I left my heart in India; this country is a rainbow of emotions; the people are so sincere , colorful India, the difference in beliefs and thoughts, the speechless landscapes, the different fragrances, the facilities and opportunities lying everywhere and most importantly THE SMILES. I met different people and some living in very bad conditions, naked kids living in slums or families sleeping in the streets. However sad and bad could be their situation they never stop wearing this SMILE. A warm and welcoming smile which never fades and which of course makes you reflect
a lot on where lays real happiness?

My internship lasted 45 days “only”, time went so fast

but it was all a compilation of unforgettable moments.

Choosing India for an Internship was just the perfect choice.

I met people of at least 10 different countries, experienced

work in a company, got to know cool AIESECers who also

contributed in this awesome experience, I got to know about

Punjabi culture and history,  its so delicious food

(Rajma rice), of course not forgetting to mention the

BHANGRA… Balle balle :) and many other things which

cannot be expressed with words and can only be

lived.

If you too you want to connect with the essence of the
world.

To make tons of new friends

To discover about the world

About yourself

If you want to have the chance to call another place HOME.

Go for an internship with AIESEC Jalandhar.

 Babu!
one last thing . . .
Always keep in mind that an experience is  nor good nor bad,
 It is just an experience,
however . . .
It is up to YOU to make it a life changing one
